Jacked Pipeline Installation for Roads, Rail and River Crossings
Pipe jacking is a trenchless construction technique used to install pipelines, culverts and utility ducts underground with minimal surface disruption. Specially designed pipes are pushed through the ground using powerful hydraulic jacks from a launch shaft. Excavation takes place simultaneously within a protective shield or microtunnelling machine at the face.
The Pipe Jacking Advantage
This method is ideal for installations beneath roads, railways, rivers and other sensitive infrastructure where open-cut construction is not practical. It provides a high-quality finished pipeline with smooth internal surfaces, excellent hydraulic performance and minimal impact on the surrounding environment.
Our Capabilities
HB Tunnelling delivers pipe jacking solutions across a wide range of ground conditions. We combine our experienced tunnelling personnel, modern jacking equipment, and proven trenchless construction techniques to deliver safe, accurate and efficient installations. Jacked pipeline installations typically range from 450mm to 3000mm diameter, subject to ground conditions, pipe specification and project requirements. Drive lengths of up to 1,000m may be achievable using modern trenchless techniques, subject to ground conditions, alignment, lubrication strategy and project design.
