Ground Stabilisation & Resin Injection Services
At HB Tunnelling, we specialise in ground stabilisation using advanced resin injection technology to strengthen weak or loose subsoils, creating a cohesive and stable ground mass without the need for costly excavation.
This method is ideal for improving ground conditions across a wide range of applications, including roads, pathways, concrete slabs, rail tracks, embankments, shafts, voids and below-ground infrastructure. It is also highly effective for brownfield redevelopment and environmentally sensitive sites where minimal disruption is essential.
Ground stabilisation offers a cost-effective, fast, and efficient solution. By treating the ground in situ, there is no need for excavation, waste removal, or material disposal, making it particularly suitable for constrained or contaminated sites. The low-viscosity resin penetrates deeply into soil voids and pore structures that traditional grouts cannot reach, delivering long-lasting stability and improved load-bearing performance.
Advantages of Resin Injection
-No Dewatering Required: Works effectively in wet or dry soils.
-Compact & Mobile Equipment: Access tight spaces easily, even through doorways.
-Quick Curing Resin: Adjust reaction times with accelerators for precise results.
-Durable & Water Resistant: Resin remains stable and hydrophobic once cured.
-Safe Low-Pressure Injection: Minimises risk of soil fracture and protects nearby structures.
– Lightweight Foaming Action: Reduces volume and weight of injected material.
-Low Impact: Reduced excavation, waste removal and disruption compared with traditional replacement methods.
Precision Resin Injection
How It Works:
Ø Controlled Low-Pressure Injection: Resin is injected into the ground via specialist lances, allowing deep penetration without soil disruption.
Ø Precise Reaction & Expansion: Resin reacts at a pre-determined set and expansion rate, forming a uniform, stabilised sub-base.
Ø Supports Foundations: Cohesive ground improves load-bearing capacity and allows underpinning or foundations to be installed where needed.
Specialist Techniques:
Ø Deep Lance Installation: Injection lances reach depths up to 12 metres with our specialist installation method.
Ø Uniform Resin Placement: Controlled lance extraction technology ensures consistent fill and cohesive soil improvement.
Ø Advanced Surveys: Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and ground stiffness surveys confirm correct resin placement and performance.
Quality Assurance:
Ø Strict monitoring of temperature, volume, and resin batch numbers ensures every project meets the highest standards.
Grouting
Grouting is a proven method used to seal, stabilise, and rehabilitate underground pipelines and surrounding ground conditions. By injecting specialised grout materials into pipelines, joints, voids, or the surrounding soil, we enhance structural integrity, prevent leaks, and extend the lifespan of pipeline systems.
Our grouting services can support segmental shafts, tunnelling works, redundant pipeline filling, void filling and ground stabilisation. Our grouting services normally consist of filling redundant pipelines with a grout material, or for general void filling and stabilisation works.   Â

HBT installs a range of products ranging from OPC, Bentonite & our exclusive HBT Voidfill & bespoke mix
What is HBT Voidfill?
HBT Voidfill is a multi-purpose, super-lightweight engineering filler grout formed from a unique pre-expanded resin. It is produced on-site from a liquid base, with the raw materials generating many times their own volume thus avoiding numerous deliveries to site which can be pumped, poured or injected.   Â
The resin is turned into foam, on site, by adding water and compressed air. Because the product is environmentally friendly, non-combustible, rot proof and resistant to inorganic solvents, it’s a completely safe installation process. Ensuring the tank is completely filled is vital because any voids can pose the threat of flammable gases building up.                                                                                                                 Â
-Environmentally friendly and is an inert product
-Water-based resin
-No effect on global warming
-No effect on groundwater
-Non-flammable
-Recyclable and/or compostable under specific composting circumstances (high temp & bacteria)
-Mechanically relatively easily removable and reusable in agricultural applications. (Resins Agro BV)
