Introduction
Upon HBT site visit it soon became apparent why trenchless method was being looked at. There was a bank of cables which was encased in concrete above the proposed route.
HBT was appointed by Morgan Sindall, to undertake the temporary works design and construct a 3.2m long x 1.8m wide x 1.2m high timber heading.
No ground information was available at the time so HBT commenced the temporary works as the design works had to be based on Dry Clay
Timber Heading
The Challenge
During the works, granite boulders & high water was encountered so additional calculations had to undertaken to ensure that the temporary works was fit for purpose given the change in ground conditions as well as additional miners being utilised.
“This is why we use HBT for any specialist
trenchless works absolutely great team and works undertaken with safety
first”
- Morgan Sindall
“We have a great working relationship with Morgan Sindall
but this was a very small job however just goes to show how quickly ground
conditions can change.
